Easter 2009

This past Easter was a little different for us with Nate being out of town on a business trip. It always feels a little strange to celebrate anything with one of the family missing. Nate tries his best to schedule his trips around important events, even occasionally turning them down, but in this case there was no getting around it.


Easter traditions in the family household include: Easter dresses for the girls (usually worn for 2-3 years--if it still fits, they don't get a new one and mom may or may not intentionally buy dresses two sizes too big--shhhhh...), bunny Easter baskets waiting on the dining table Easter morning, an indoor egg hunt (hey, we live in Seattle, you know), and mom begging for the kids to pose for just one more picture.


Over the years, I've tried to include a gift in their Easter baskets that is in keeping with the true spirit of the holiday. Last year they all received a journal. This year they each got a pocket hymnal, with the exception of Sydney, who got a picture book. It's fun to see the kids pull out their own hymnals in church. I'm hoping they'll always willingly sing along.

I'm so thankful for these small opportunities to make family memories together, and most especially for the blessing of my family and the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ that makes it possible for us to be together always.

Note to Dad: We're expecting you to make an appearance for Easter 2010.
